MK Ben-Ari: Some Jews Should Take Citizenship Oath

Speaking Saturday night, MK Michael Ben-Ari (National Union) slammed a leftist demonstration in Tel Aviv against the proposed changes in the Citizenship Law. Ben-Ari said that the “the far-left protesters in Tel Aviv are proof that the Citizenship Law should apply to Jews as well. Today they oppose loyalty to the state, and tomorrow they will demand that the national anthem be dropped because it is 'racist,'” he said.

Leading the protest were MK Haim Orom (Meretz) and MK Mohammed Barakeh (Hadash), both of whom called the requirement that non-Jews pledge allegiance to Israel as a Jewish and democratic state as “fascist.”
